What is Glossing?
What is ASL Glossing?
Unlike spoken languages of the world, ASL has no written form. However, scholars have developed methods over the years to provide a writing tool to provide instructions on how signs are formed, along with the accompanying grammar and movement of the language.
View the slideshow below for an explanation of how to gloss in ASL:
- You can also view a printout of the slideshow by clicking here and downloading the document.
