Leaders need to build trust. 

Building trust is a reciprocal and incremental process. To build trust in others, leaders must first demonstrate their own trustworthiness. When people feel they can trust a leader, they will reciprocate the trust. Trust builds slowly over time but is crucial for achieving positive results. A high-trust environment allows employees to share information, collaborate, and act with greater speed and creativity.

Building trust is one of the most fundamental leadership skills. You need to build trust by communicating the reasons that your followers should trust you. This will help build rapport and loyalty between you and your team members. Trust is a vital foundation for any organization, and it can be difficult to build trust without it.

Effective leaders are responsive and consider the viewpoints and needs of their followers. They also take proactive steps to improve engagement and retention. People like to feel appreciated for their hard work and contributions. Leaders are responsible for recognizing the successes and accomplishments of others. Delegating tasks can also help free up the leaders from day-to-day operations. However, this approach is dependent on a strong organizational climate where trust is maintained.

In modern organizations, attitudes toward leadership have shifted from the traditional autocratic model of leadership to a more distributed and democratic model. Organizations today are increasingly facing accelerated change and have to battle to survive in a competitive global marketplace. They need to focus more on the health of their executive leadership.
